What is Digital wall art?

I believe that my images are very suitable for corporate wall art as they look stunning within a modern decor. I find that abstract art is also ideal for corporate wall art as it is non subject specific. It is very decorative and can represent different things to different viewers. I can also deliver in very large sizes and quantity as required, in a way that would be impossible if it was labour intensive paint on canvas!

It is also possible to include branding if required and colour schemes can be adapted for any decor. Any size and shape can be catered for too.

The print

This is a very high resolution corporate wall art print. It is hard to properly appreciate on screen as the screen is resolution is about 72 ppi but printed at around 300ppi. To put that another way, these images are much higher resolution than High definition TV!

The process

I base my images on fractal flames (with a great deal of post rendering to enhance them).

Fractal flames are essentially 3d fractals that are ‘freeze-framed’ to create the chosen images. Fractal flames are mathematical algorithms which lie behind natural phenomenon. They can describe patterns as found in clouds, water, sand as well as leaves and plant forms.

The software

This stunning artwork is created with open-source ‘fractal flame’ software at very high resolutions. Post-rendering in Photoshop is also an integral part of the creative process. For example, the images are rendered with transparent backgrounds and then I create suitable backgrounds with Photoshop layers. Further enhancements are made with Photoshop graduations, levels and hue adjustments.

The computer

The sort of processing required for the creation of these images is very demanding on computer memory and speed. Some of my early images took a whole week to render, but as computers get faster I can render them much quicker. The number crunching that goes on for the level of detail that I require, is so intense that the computer actually gets very hot! That all being said, essentially the computer is just a tool, albeit a very powerful tool.

The creative process

I progress through quite a few stages before I am happy with the finished outcome! The creative process also calls on my years of experience as a conventional artist producing photography, painting and drawings. I also spent several years as an Adobe Certified Instructor which helped consolidate my knowledge and skills.

Printing

I choose to print on aluminium dibond as it is a very stable, light and waterproof surface. The inks are archival with a life of more than 75 years.

Mounting

The prints all come with a free wall mounting kit included in the standard price. The integrated wall-mounts on the back of the picture make it easy to hang it securely. Depending on the size,

  • Hooks: for pictures with edges of 9.8″ (25 cm) or less
  • Parallel aluminium rails: for pictures with any edge from 10″ – 19.7″ (26 – 50 cm)
  • Bordering aluminium rail: for pictures with any edge over 19.7″ (50 cm)
